Refund Policy
Last updated: July 2, 2026
This policy explains how billing, cancellations, and refunds work for OpenStep subscriptions. It applies alongside our Terms of Service and does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
1. How OpenStep is billed
OpenStep is offered as a subscription. Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited, acting as our Merchant of Record. This means Paddle handles checkout, billing, taxes, and refunds on our behalf. The price and billing interval are shown clearly at checkout before you pay.
2. Automatic renewal & cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the in-app subscription page (or via the cancellation link in your Paddle receipt email). When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again.
3. 14-day refund window
Because Paddle is the Merchant of Record, every purchase is also covered by Paddle’s Buyer Terms. Under those terms, you may withdraw from a transaction for any reason within 14 days of completing it and receive a full refund — unless, during that period, you have started downloading, streaming, using, or otherwise benefiting from the service. OpenStep is digital content made available immediately, so you acknowledge at checkout that access begins right away.
This 14-day window is a minimum we honour for all buyers, and it applies in addition to any longer statutory cooling-off or consumer rights you may have under the law of your country (for example, in the UK or EU). Nothing in this policy limits those statutory rights.
4. When we offer refunds
Consistent with Paddle’s Buyer Terms, we will provide a refund where:
- You request one within 14 days of a charge and have made little or no use of the service since that charge;
- You were charged in error, charged twice, or charged after cancelling;
- A technical fault on our side prevented you from using the service and we could not resolve it.
Outside the 14-day window — for example on a renewal charge once the new period is already underway — refunds are considered individually, in good faith, and alongside your statutory rights.
5. How to request a refund
Email support@openstep.uk with the email address used at checkout and, if possible, the Paddle order or receipt number. You may also request a refund directly through the receipt email Paddle sent you. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
6. How refunds are processed
Approved refunds are issued by Paddle to your original payment method. Once approved, the funds typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card provider.
7. Free trials & introductory offers
If your plan includes a free trial or introductory price, cancel before the trial or intro period ends to avoid being charged the standard rate. Charges that occur after a trial you did not cancel follow the rules above.
8. Chargebacks
If something looks wrong with a charge, please contact us first — we can almost always resolve it faster than a bank dispute. Opening a chargeback without contacting us may result in your account access being suspended while the dispute is reviewed.
